When we fly

We fly most non raining Wednesdays, weekends and public holidays. Check the schedule on the home page to check we are flying the day you want to turn up, and that public flights are available.

How much does it cost?

Make a booking

Book yourself in on the calendar on our homepage (scroll down a bit to see it). Turn up a bit before before your booking if you can. Ensure we have your cellphone number, so we can contact you if the day is cancelled. Bookings can be cancelled without penalty.

Allow an hour or so to have your flight, sometimes there are delays. The actual flight length will depend on the booking time.

If you have a friend or family member who may also want a flight we can probably fit them in on the day.

Where to find us

We fly from Matamata Airfield 9km north of Matamata, and just north of the small town of Waharoa.

We have an airfield map here. Please note:

• It's OK to drive on the airfield to get to us, but be sure your hazard lights are on and stick well to the side.
• Look for our club caravan. It will be at one of 4 points on the airfield.
• Watch out for aircraft at all times especially around the hangers. Give way to all aircraft.
• If crossing the airfield, stop and look both ways for any aircraft landing or taking off.

What to bring

• Sunglasses
• A hat or cap if you've got one.
• Sunscreen. You'll be outside most of the time. Essential in summer.
• A jacket & warm clothes. The airfield is exposed and it's often windy and cold while waiting on the ground, especially in winter.
• Camera. You can take photos while up in the glider.
• Cash, cheque book or EFTPOS card. Sorry we don't accept credit cards. Prices can be found here.
• Your trial flight voucher if you have one.

Facilities

• We have club rooms that have tea/coffee facilities and toilets.
• Food is available from Waharoa, about 5 minutes drive south from the field.
• The nearest ATM cash machine is in Matamata.
